the technologies and assets of the NTT Group.
Initiatives to tackle global warming
The greatest environmental and energy challenge is the fight against global warming.
Global warming occurs when the average temperature of the entire planet rises. It is mainly caused by increased greenhouse gases such as CO2, which can severely impact our daily lives, the natural environment, and economic activities. Therefore, urgent measures are required to tackle this problem.
NTT Green Innovation toward 2040
Japan has declared to tackle the issue of global warming by making an inter national commitment to reduce the country's greenhouse gas emissions by 46 percent by 2030 and become carbon neutral—in other words, to become a decarbonized society—by 2050. As the NTT Group is responsible for consuming one percent of Japan's energy, NTT Anode Energy formulated NTT Green Innovation toward 2040 in 2021. This is NTT Group's vision to become carbon neutral by 2040. In 2023, the NTT Group also declared that it would aim to expand to Scope 3 emissions and decarbonize customers using its services by strengthening partnerships with suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the supply chain.
NTT Anode Energy is working to develop and acquire renewable energy generation to realize a decarbonized society.
NTT Anode Energy Business Details
NTT Anode Energy will develop an "energy solution" that comprehensively links energy source development, procurement, adjustment, and sales. It will efficiently leverage the following four functions to handle all operations from power generation to supply.

- Green Power Generation
We are committed to promoting an efficient power generation business to achieve carbon neutrality for the NTT Group and a decarbonized society by steadily developing and operating renewable energy power plants such as solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass in harmonious coexistence with local communities.
- Aggregation
We solve problems that may arise with the increased use and expansion of renewable energy through storage battery facilities and EMS (energy management system) that control the balance of supply and demand. Our contribution to carbon neutrality is not only for our customers, such as companies and local governments, but for all of Japan.
- Energy Retailing
We partner with electricity retailers, including ENNET, a subsidiary of NTT Anode Energy, to sustainably deliver renewable energy by offering various solutions to meet the needs of our consumers, including companies and local governments.
- Engineering Solutions
We will actively develop our engineering solutions, focusing on renewable energy, storage batteries, and data centers, by leveraging our technical strengths and expertise in constructing and maintaining power systems for telecommunications buildings accumulated over 100 years.
